Daily Dose 6.21-22.14

**Hey, as you noticed, there was no daily dose posted yesterday, so today’s will cover both yesterday and today’s news! We apologize for the inconvenience. 😦

  • A trailer for new film Roaring Currents (directed by Kim Han-min and starring Choi Min-shik) has been released! Check it out below, along with some gorgeously gruesome stills and posters. 🙂

  • C-drama Loving, Never Forgetting starring Jerry Yan and Tong Li Ya premieres this Monday on Zhejiang TV. Below are some stills and previews!

  • The 2011 series called Bu Bu Jing Xin is being adapted into a movie. However, no further details regarding the cast have been released.
  • A new C-drama called One and a Half Summer is coming! It stars Nichkhun from 2PM, Xu Lu, Jiang Jing Fu of Tangren, Kelly Yu, and Miss A‘s Jia. Which is interesting, considering that two of them are K-pop idols and that Nichkhun can’t even speak Chinese or Korean well enough to act in either language.

  • Shawn Dou is to replace Ethan Ruan in Dante Lam‘s To the Fore because of Ruan’s knee injury. Hope Ethan recovers soon!

  • Joseon Gunman premieres June 25! Here’s all the lovely cast making finger guns (probably has something to do with “gunman” being in the drama title eh?). Check out their adorable-ness and a teaser for the drama below. 😉

  • Park Shin-hye models for Harper’s Bazaar and Lee Bo-young for Elle Korea. Pictures below.

  •  Actor and actress Jun Ji-hyun and Kim Soo-hyun from You Who Came From the Stars are in a commercial (CF) for a water bottle company (恒大生水) that gets their source from the Jangbaeksan (korean name) or Changbai Mountain (chinese name). S. Koreans are offended by their role in the ad because the commercial refers to the mountain by its Chinese name, even though the mountain is legally owned by China and N. Korea. The actor and actress have apologized, stating they didn’t know anything about the state of the endorsement.

China and Taiwan

  • Actor Chen Kun, who plays the lead in the upcoming movie Zhong Kui: Snow Girl and the Dark Crystal, has revealed that he is also involved in the investment of the movie’s production. He stated that he did this because he had wanted to learn more about film-making besides acting. The movie will be released in February 2015.
  • Taiwanese actor Eddie Peng admitted that playing iconic martial artist Wong Fei Hung in the upcoming movie Rise of the Legend makes him very nervous. The movie character is immensely popular, and director Roy Chow explained that he decided to make a film about him because it’s time for the character to return.

  • Gong Hyo-jin, the lead actress from It’s Alright, It’s Love, got into a three-car collision that resulted her getting a fractured arm. While she was on the way back from a drama set, her van was involved in a pile-up with two other trucks. Thank goodness she is okay! Hopefully, this won’t affect drama filming too much. Get well soon!
  • My Sassy Girl revival: Jun Ji-hyun (Gianna Jun) and Cha Tae-hyun starred in the original version of this movie. There is a possibility of My Sassy Girl 2, which I really hope doesn’t happen. Nothing can beat the original. The production company is considering to adapted the sequel to both the big screen and small screen (drama version).  There were rumors earlier this year about f(x)’s Victoria being cast as the heroine. This is one of those untouchable classics that I don’t really want a sequel to. I prefer that they just make another story-line inspired by My Sassy Girl.

  • Fated to Love You: More teasers and stills have come out for this Korean adaptation of the Taiwanese drama. The leads, Jang Nara and Jang Hyuk (oh, look! name twinning! Jang couple), are playing the roles of Chen Xin Yi and Ji Cun Xi, respectively.

China and Taiwan

  • The Imperial Doctress: Wahhhhh!!! I’m so excited for this drama 🙂 This Ming dynasty medical drama stars Liu Shi Shi (Cecilia Liu) and Wallace Huo. The Imperial Doctress is about a female doctor that later becomes a consort. Strangely enough, there will be 2 emperors, Emperor Zheng Tong and Emperor Tian Shun, in this drama. Although this actually did occur in Chinese history, it is very unlikely that this drama will be historically accurate. The stills for this drama look pretty awesome.

  • A new drama about the crown prince Sado called Secret Door is being planned! It will be starring Han Seok-kyu as King Yeongjo and Lee Je-hoon as Sado.
  • Yoo Joon-sang has been offered the lead in the drama My Spring Day, which will probably air in September. While nothing is for certain, the actor is seriously considering the offer!
  • There’s a reunion possibility for past costars Lee Seung-gi and Moon Chae-won in a romantic comedy movie called Three Men’s Women. Moon Chae-won will play a girl that a group of friends all fall for, which hopefully will be better than it sounds. Most sources suggest that Moon Chae-won is confirmed for the part while Lee Seung-gi is still considering, so fingers crossed that these two meet paths again!

China and Taiwan

  • Cruel Romance is being released Fall 2014! Starring Chen Qiao En and Huang Xiaoming, it’s set in the time period following the Qing Dynasty and based on a novel by Nian Yi called Jing Xiu’s Destiny. Below are posters and an action-packed preview.

  • Korean Adaptation of Fated to Love You (MBC): MBC has released a couple stills for their upcoming adaptation of Fated to Love You. Although the original has its faults and poor production values, I hope that the Korean version really lives up to my expectation. I’ve had a bad experience of Korean adaptations of Japanese mangas and the like. (Cough cough Boys Over Flowers, Playful Kiss, etc.) These pictures seem pretty promising.

China and Taiwan

  • The Four: This wuxia drama is expected to air sometime this year. They have released some very nice stills. Because Gui Gui (Emma Wu) is in this, I might considering watching this.

  • Ethan Ruan withdraws from Dante Lam’s sports movie, To the Fore, because of his knee injury. He was injured filming Shanghai Noir and is currently going through rehabilitation. Hope he gets well!
